Colour Tip for Support

Inevitably at some point in our life we will experience a horrible event such as an accident, an operation, a separation or the loss of a loved one. Life can change its course within a split second, leaving us distraught and in shock and despair.  Yet another of life’s challenges is to deal with the tragedy, no matter how hard and get back on track. Over the last couple of months I have heard from several people who are dealing with tragic or challenging events. We cannot take away the experience but we can give support to ourselves or friends and family to help bring back the joy, optimism, happiness and trust in life.

Colour influences our emotions and there are two colours which can be used if you or someone else need some support to help through a traumatic situation. The colours are orange and blue.

Orange helps us to deal with whatever has happened in our life, assisting us to let go of the past; the shock and despair of a situation. This can be especially apparent after an accident or shock where the mind continually revolves around the issues involved – the ‘what if….’ and ‘if only I had done this instead of that…’ The orange energy brings a willingness to ‘let go’, to get involved with life again, gradually allowing you to enjoy the happiness and enthusiasm for all that life involves.

Blue is a calming colour, bringing back trust in self and in life.  This colour can bring calmness when you feel agitated or your mind is chaotic.  Blue encourages an effective flow of peace and understanding and helps to ‘clear the mind’, allowing you to ‘see’ everything in context and clearly.  Whenever there is a need for peace, rest or detachment you can use this colour.

You can start wearing these colours, preferably with shirts or blouses. You can buy coloured flowers, visualize these colours or eat orange and blue food. Orange foods help with the release of stress from the body while blue foods bring stillness to the mind and can be useful for treating insomnia, inflammation, headaches and the effects of shock.

Blue and orange are complementary colours and when used in balance they can be a great support to you,

Have a fantastic week,
